Lucy Bray
Headteacher
Lucy has been the Headteacher at Oakfield Academy since September 2024, following five years as Deputy Headteacher and a year as Head of School. With an extensive background in primary education spanning 26 years, she has consistently championed children with additional needs, holding the role of SENCo in various schools. Lucy played a pivotal role in transforming a school from ‘Special Measures’ to ‘Good’ through her dedication to school improvement. A firm believer in the prioritisation of early reading and foundational skills, she continues to drive improvement in these areas while ensuring that personal development is central to pupils’ overall success and wellbeing.
Her professional development reflects a deep commitment to educational leadership. Lucy holds a Bachelor of Science with Qualified Teacher Status with Honours, a Certificate in Advanced Educational Studies for examining professional practice and school-based enquiry, and the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH) obtained in 2023. Most recently she achieved the CMI Level 7 Award in Strategic Management and Leadership Practice, further strengthening her strategic leadership expertise. Lucy’s diverse experiences and commitment to educational excellence underpin her leadership at Oakfield Academy.
