Haydn joined The Gateway Trust as Headteacher at Oakfield Academy in April 2019, bringing with him a wealth of experience of school improvement as a Headteacher in his prior schools, as well as providing school-to-school support between multi-academy trusts in the north.

Under his leadership within the Trust, Oakfield Academy underwent a significant turnaround, moving from an ‘inadequate’ judgement in 2018 to a ‘good’ OFSTED rating in 2023, with two areas recognised as ‘outstanding’. This accomplishment evidences Haydn’s dedication and skill in developing environments where pupils achieve strong academic outcomes whilst developing as individuals.

His educational journey is grounded by his honours degree in Primary Education, the NPQSL and the NPQEL, obtained in 2023. In 2024, Haydn was awarded fellowship at The Chartered College of Teaching as a formal mark of his achievements, skills and contributions to education.

As Primary Director for The Gateway Trust, Haydn now works across the family of schools, leading on raising standards, developing leadership capacity and strengthening inclusive practice. He has a particular focus on curriculum development and staff professional growth, ensuring that schools are places where both pupils and adults thrive.
